Happy Valentine's Day!!

I have a special card today for you ~ wishing everyone LOVE today on Valentine's Day.

Ingredients:

Whimsy Stamps Gothic dies

Sizzix Alphabet dies

SugarPea Designs Stacked Stars die

White card stock

Tan paper

Lavender paper

Blue paper

Green paper

Brown ink

Distress edge ruler

For this 5 inch by 7 inch card I started with White card stock to make the base of the card.  I took some Tan paper, tore the edges with a distress ruler and inked the edges with Brown ink and added that to the card. I added the Lavender, Blue and green paper and then inked around the edges with Brown ink and added that to the cards.  I took some White paper and the Whimsy Stamps Gothic dies wings and cut them out, put some shimmer on them and added them to the card.  I took some Green Core'dinations paper and the SugaraPea Designs Stacked Stars and cut them out.  I distressed the stars and inked the edges with Brown ink and added them to the card.  I took the pink hearts and added them to the center of the hearts.

"It's A Girl Thing" Turner Syndrome Awareness 2nd Annual Blog Hop

Welcome to my post for the GIGANTIC "It's A Girl Thing" Turner Syndrome Awareness 2nd Annual Blog Hop!  

More than 32 years ago my daughter, Julie, was diagnosed with Turner Syndrome. I found that many doctors were not familiar with TS and for me this is where my journey began.  I spent hard days and long nights trying to learn everything I could about TS and how I could help my daughter.  Receiving the diagnosis was only the first step on a lifelong path of searching for acceptance and understanding.

TS is a complex condition with ear and hearing issues being one aspect, which Julie faced.  She had numerous ear infections and eventually needed surgery to put tubes in her ears.  I informed the ENT that TS girls ears were different but the surgery failed ~ a situation that could have been avoided with awareness and education. Without experienced professionals to guide us, making medical decisions for Julie was an ongoing struggle.  After this, we decided to commute to Children's Hospital in Philadelphia where the specialists were more familiar with TS.

When Julie was an infant, the geneticist told my husband and me to keep Julie's TS diagnosis a secret because others would treat her differently.  I now know that staying silent will not help my daughter, or any girl affected by TS, access the care she needs.  Working together to raise a greater awareness encourages the medical field to do much needed research on how TS affects girls and women throughout their lives.  This is the reason I started this Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop!!  I am very fortunate that the Crafting Community is such a generous community and that so many Companies and Card Designers have joined me to spread awareness!!  Please shop at the Sponsors stores and please leave some love on the awesome Card Designers Blogs!!

I am here today with a card that I made with 2 of the Sponsors of the "It's A Girl Thing" Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop ~ Whimsy Stamps and I used the Gothic Die Set and the Unity Stamps Every Breath sentiment.

Ingredinents:

Whimsy Stamps Gothic Die Set

Unity Stamps Every Breath 

White card stock

Pink patterned paper

Neenah Solar White paper

Pink paper

Black ink

Victorian Velvet distress ink

For this A2 card I started with White card stock for the base of the card.  I took the Pink patterned paper, inked the edges with Victorian Velvet distress ink and added that to the card.  I took the Whimsy Stamps Gothic Die set and some White paper and cut out the Wings.   I took some Pink paper and cut out the hearts.  I inked the edges of the largest Pink heart with Victorian Velvet and I added the hearts and wings to the card.  I took some White paper, Black ink and the Unity Stamps Every Breath sentiment and stamped that onto the paper.  I used an older die that I don't remember what it is called or who made it and cut out the sentiment.  I inked the edges with Victorian Velvet distress ink and added that to the card.

I will be selling my cards on my Cards for Charity Facebook page and all the money from the cards goes to the Turner Syndrome Foundation too!  You can go to Card for Charity and click on the photos and you will see the different albums I have with the cards I have made are up for sale.  If you see one that you would like to buy, just post a comment on the picture.  All of my cards are $3 each.
