Hello Blogging Friends,

Today we are celebrating an early Mardi Gras Party at Joy Clair!!  I have never actually been to a Mardi Gras Party but they sure do look fun!  I love the bright colors of gold, green and purple for Mardi Gras!!  The Joy Clair Mardi Gras stamp set is awesome with so many possibilities!

Be sure to go to the Joy Clair Blog to check out what all the other Design Team Members have created!  The other ladies are so darn talented!!

I have 3 cards to share with you today and a picture tutorial for the last card!

Here is my first card:

Ingredients:

Various paper from my stash
Versa mark
Black embossing powder
Copic marker

For this A2 card I started with white card stock for the base of the card. I took the patterned paper and inked the edges with black in and attached it to the card.  I took the three mask dies and stamped them with Versamark and then heat embossed them with black embossing powder.  On the top mask I colored it with a purple copic marker and I colored in all the eye holes with a gray Copic marker.  I then took one of the Elizabeth Ribbons 1 dies and cut it out with gold, purple and greed paper and attached them to the card.

Here is my second card:

Ingredients:

Joy Clair Mardi Gras stamp set
Joy Clair Be Brave stamp set ~ the small feather
Tonic Rococo Saxophone Solo die
Assorted paper from my stash
Green and Purple ink
Versa mark
Purple, gold. white and charred gold embossing powder
Copic markers
Sequins

For this 5 inch by 7 inch card I started with dark purple card stock for the base of the card.  I then took some Core'dinations dotted purple paper, distressed the edges and then inked the edges with green ink and attached it to the card. I stamped the 3 masks with Versamark and then heat embossed one with gold embossing powder, one with purple embossing powder and then one with charred gold embossing powder.  I colored the feather mask with a green and purple Copic marker. I stamped the small feather from the Joy Clair Be Brave stamp set with Versamark and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder and then colored them with some purple ink. I attached the feathers to the mask with the handle and then attached that to the card with the other masks.  Then I took the Tonic Rococo Saxophone Solo die and cut him out with black shimmer paper, green Core'dinations texture paper, some gold paper for the sax and some white paper for his face and hands and colored them with skin tone copic marker.  I pieced the Sax Player together and placed him on the card.  I stamped the sentiment from the Mardi Gras stamp set onto some white paper, colored it with green ink and then cut it out and placed that on the card.  I took some gold, green and purple sequins and placed them on the masks and on the right top corner.  I just love jazz music and would love to get to hear it on Mardi Gras!!

Here is my 3rd card with a photo tutorial:

For this card I got a piece of watercolor paper and some distress inks:  Mustard Seed, Dusty Concord and Mowed Grass Distress ink and my ink blender and started adding color to the watercolor paper

I stamped the feathered mask with black ink onto some watercolor paper.

I colored the mask with yellow, green and purple water color pencils.

After the mask was completely colored, I took a tiny paint brush and just a little bit of water and ran it over the coloring to blend and smooth out the color.

Next I stamped the string of beads from the Mardi Gras stamp set with Versamark and then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.

Then I cut out the mask with a die that I have and colored in the white background with the yellow watercolor pencil, I inked the edges with the Dusty Concord distress ink and then attached it to the card.

I then attached this to a A2 Kraft card stock blank card.

That is it for me!  I now want to go straight to New Orleans!!  How about you??

So tell me which one of the Mardi Gras cards is your favorite?

  2. WOW these masks are very pretty and so fitting to have the musician image on the card! I like your background ink blending. Beautifully done Lori! Have you tried splattering some water over distress inks? Then lightly dab with a clean cloth? It's give off very cool effect! Hope your week going great Lori. Take care. Hugs.
