Scrapy Land Challenge Blog #1

Hello My Friends,

Here is the card that I made for the NEW Scrapy Land Challenge Blog that I have just become a Design Team Member on!!  It is a new theme based bi-monthly Challenge Blog with the chance to win a $15 Gift Certificate to Scrapy Land!!   New challenges (and winners of the previous challenge) will be posted on the first and third Wednesday of each month.  The new Design Team is chock full of very talented ladies!!  So I sure do hope you stop by to see all the wonderful creations and try your hand at the challenges!!   Here is my card for Challenge #1:

For this A2 card I started with kraft cardstock and I inked the edges with brown ink.  Next I cut a piece of  dark brown paper to 4 inches by 5 1/4 inches, inked the edges with brown ink and added that to the card base.  Next I took some cream paper and used the Die-Versions Whispers Morrocco Background die and ran that thru my vagabond and attached that to my card.  Next I cut out the Penny Black Bashful die twice, once in green for the stem and once in magenta for the flower petals.  I used Sparkle N Sprinkle Japanese Lacquer Embossing Powder for the center of the flower.  Next I put the flower on the yellow paper, inked the edges with  Tattered Rose Distress Ink and then matted that with the same green paper that I used for the stem, I inked the edges of the green paper with brown ink and added that to the card.  Next I cut out the Cheery Lynn Hummingbird die in white paper and then I colored it with gelatos and added it to the card.

Please be sure to stop by the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog to see what the other Design Team members have created and feel free to leave them some love on their blogs!! This is going to be so much fun!!  I sure do hope you will participate in our challenges!!  As a matter of fact, I double dog dare you to create something for this Challenge!! (And I can do that because I have two dogs!)  Don't forget to stop back on September 17th for Challenge #2!!

I hope I have inspired you to create something beautiful today!

Thanks for stopping by!
Lori

  1. Hi, Lori! Love the Use of EP on your card, and the shading in your pretty hummingbird. I don't own any of those pretty background dies ... YET. Love the look, and hope to remake a card very similar to yours soon. It's very pretty! do you like your Vagabond? I'm thinking of investing in one, even though my cards are usually 5x7 or 6x6. What do you think? hugs, de

  9. Hi Lori, thanks for your visit and sweet comment. You have used one of my favorite motifs (the hummingbird) and this is such a colorful beauty with the way you've used the gelatos on it. Love that Bashful Flower, and think I have that die. The background is so pretty with the other elements, and this is a very striking card. Just became your newest follower, and good luck with the DT. You do indeed have some extremely crafty & talented team members! Some of whom I've known for quite a while in blogland. You'll have lots of fun. TFS & Hugs
