Why I Fundraise for the Turner Syndrome Foundation

People ask me why I fundraise for the Turner Syndrome Foundation.  I do it to not only help my daughter, but to help other TS girls and women and their mothers!  I do it to help fund research about the long term affects on TS girls and women.

Why is this so important to me?  Because my daughter, Julie, was diagnosed at 6 weeks old and the doctors in our area had no other TS patients and were not familiar with TS.  We had to take her to a Children's Hospital 2 hours away from where we live to see her specialists who were familiar with Turner Syndrome.

Julie is now 33 years old and still people have never heard of Turner Syndrome.  I have made it my mission to bring more awareness of TS to the public in hopes that more research will be done.

I am a scrapbooker and card maker and in 2018 I decided to host a Scrapbooking Fundraiser Event for the Turner Syndrome Foundation.  I invited all of my scrapbooking friends and they invited their friends.  I held the event at the Ocean Acres Community Center in Manahawkin, NJ.  I am on several Stamp and Die Companies Design Team so I contacted a lot of on-line scrapbooking stores for donations for prizes.  I talked to local businesses to get meals donated for the event.  Everyone had a great time and were very pleased with the prizes that they won and we made a nice donation to the Turner Syndrome Foundation.  Here are some pictures from the event.

A very close friend and scrapbooking buddy helped me put the Scrapbook Event together.  We set up a Photo Booth area for the event.

We had vendors there selling scrapbook supplies and the prizes lined up on the table and window sill.

Julie was the Star of the day!  We had Julie pull the prize winners names from the bags.

Everyone wanted a picture with Julie!  Everybody who meets Julie falls in love with her!

We all had fun taking photos with the props!!

My friend moved to Florida so I decided that in 2019 I would do a Blog Hop called "It's A Girl Thing" Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop.  On the main blog I gave information about Turner Syndrome and I made some cards and had my Card Designer friends make cards too and people would go from one blog to the next to see the cards that we made and there were chances to win prizes.  I sell my cards on a facebook page called "Card for Charity" for $3 each and I donate all of the money to the Turner Syndrome Foundation.  The "It's A Girl Thing" Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop has become an annual event in the month of February which is Turner Syndrome Awareness Month.  This year I changed it up and there will only be 12 blog stops and then anyone who wants to make a card can and have a chance to win a prize from the 23 Caring and Generous Sponsors.  I will again be selling my cards for $3 each with all of the funds being donated to TSF.

One of the Sponsors, Jan Mahew, has designed a TSF digital stamp set that people can purchase from her on-line store to make their own cards.  Jan is donating all the funds from the TSF Digital Stamp Sale to the Turner Syndrome Foundation.
