You Are My Gnome

Hello Friends,

Happy Spring to Everybody!!  I am so glad that it is officially Spring!!  Now if we could just convince Mother Nature, we'd be doing fine!!  Today I wanted to make a Spring type card and I also wanted to make a card for the Words 2 Scrap By Challenge for the month of March!  In honor of the Oscar's the challenge was to pick one of four quotes from favorite movies to use as inspiration.  I picked "There's no place like home." from the 1939 "Wizard of Oz" movie.  But to change it up a bit I used a gnome on my card.  Here's my card:

For this A2 card I started with blue cardstock as the base of the card, next I added a light blue paper for the sky and then a little bit of green for grass.  I cut out Mr. Gnome from Cottage Cutz colored him with copic markers and pieced him together and sat him on his rock, next I cut out the Garden Wishing Well from Cottage Cutz and colored and pieced that together and placed that on the card next to Mr. Gnome.  Then I took some black ink and stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts OWH stamp set on the card.  I was going to cross out home and write gnome underneath it, but I figured everyone could figure out what I was going for without me writing it in!  So I hope someone gets the message that there is gnome place like home from this card!!

Don't forget to check out the other cards made for this challenge over at the Words 2 Scrap by Challenge Page.  I hope I have inspired you to create something or at least gave you a little chuckle to brighten up the first day of Spring for you!!

Thannks for stopping by and happy crafting!!
Lori

  2. Hi, Lori.

First of all, great blog name. Very kreative!

Secondly, I totally agree with Bobbi. Your paper piecing is so well done, and the implied pun is perfect for this challenge.

Thanks so much for the shout out. And, thanks for joining us for our Oscar-inspired W2SB challenge!
