Scrapy Land Challenge #78

Hello Blogging Friends!

Today is the start of a new challenge on the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog ~

Scrapy Land Challenge #78

The theme is always ANYTHING GOES using any brand of die that Scrapy Land sells.  In addition, we have TWO WINNERS for each challenge.  One will be a random winner and the other is chosen by the Design Team.  Each winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to Scrapy Land.

Please link your post back to the Scrapy Land Challenge #78 and include a link to this challenge in your post.  It would also be extremely helpful if you would list the brands of dies used in your project. (Sometime we can't tell if an item is a die cut or chipboard.)

Today's post is going to be a bit different then our normal challenge post because back in September the Design Team had a sign-up for a Halloween/Fall Card Exchange with another Designer on the Team.  Not all of us took part for various reasons, but I happen to love Halloween so I was all in!  I got to make a card and send to Mary on the Scrapy Land Design Team!  This is the card I made for Mary:

Ingredients:

Kraft card stock
Watercolor paper
Picked Raspberry distress ink
Blueprint distress ink
Seedless Grape distress ink
Black Soot distress ink
Assorted paper from my stash
Coarse Kosher salt
Water

For this card I started with Kraft card stock for the base of the card.  I then took a piece of watercolor paper, some distress inks, my blending tool and my craft mat and got to work making a spooky background!  I started by applying the Picked Raspberry distress ink to the bottom of my watercolor paper.

I then took the Blueprint distress ink and rubbed that above the Picked Raspberry letting the inks overlap each other.

I then took the Seedless Grape distress ink and rubbed that above the Blueprint ink letting the ink overlap into each other.

Then I took the Black Soot distress ink and rubbed that lightly around the edges and over the top of the other colors.

I then took my spritz bottle of water and spritzed the paper and then I sprinkled coarse salt over the paper and let it dry.

I love the way the salt, water and ink mix together, makes for a spooky background!

After the paper was dry I brushed off the salt and attached that to the Kraft base and then started adding my die cuts to the card.  I cut out the Taylored Expressions Birch Tree Boader die and cut that out with white paper and then inked it up with black ink and added it to the left hand corner of the card.  I then took some black paper and cut it out with the Die-Versions Creepy Gate die and added that to the card.  I then took some yellow glitter paper and cut out the moon from the Die-Versions Moon and Cloud die and added that over the Creepy Gate.  I then took some more black paper and cut it out with the Die-Versions Wicked Witch die and added her on top of the moon.  So what do you think??  Is it a Spooky Halloween card or what??

Here is another picture of the card:

I got my Halloween card from Lisa on the Design Team and here is the wonderful card she sent to me:

I love all the spooky details she added to this card!!

Now you have to go over to the Scrapy Land Challenge #78 and see what the rest of the Design Team have made!!

Then it is your turn to create something for this challenge!!

Please remember to:

~include at least one brand of die that Scrapy Land sells
~include a link to the Scrapy Land Challenge #78 on your blog post
~list the brands of dies used on your project

You have until December 3rd to join in on the Scrapy Land Challenge #78 fun and have a chance of winning a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.

Thanks for stopping by!!

  5. Love your spooky card to Mary, Lori! Especially that background - I never think to use the salt, and it always creates spectacular effects (like this one!). I especially like that you put the white birch trees there to offer the contrast. Fabulous card (and so is the one Lisa sent you!) How fun! hugs, de

  6. Oh, Lori, thanks for the detailed explanation of how you did that incredible background piece! Such marvelous effects just from using a little salt. Those white trees and the bright yellow moon really complete the sky. I'm so impressed!
